Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading e-hailing and food app, has partnered with digital assets payment provider Triple-A to allow Grab Pay users in Singapore to top up their e-wallet balances using cryptocurrencies.
Integration with Triple-A
On March 12, Grab integrated the feature in collaboration with Triple-A, a digital assets payment provider that secured a license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in 2021.
Supported Cryptocurrencies
- Bitcoin
- Ether
- USD Coin (USDC)
- Tether (USDT)
- Singapore dollar-backed stablecoin XSGD
Users can now use these digital currencies for various transactions within the Grab app, from deliveries to rides and even coffee purchases.
Simple Process
Grab has simplified the process by allowing users to send their crypto to a wallet provided by Grab or through a QR code.
Previous Web3 Initiatives
Grab previously ventured into the Web3 space in partnership with Circle and MAS, offering blockchain-enabled wallets and NFT vouchers to Singapore users.
Expansion of Crypto Payments
While Ryde was the first carpooling app in Singapore to introduce Bitcoin payments in 2020, Grab’s recent move further expands the usage of cryptocurrencies in everyday transactions in the country.
Founded in 2012, Grab has a user base of 180 million and operates in over 500 cities across eight Southeast Asian countries.
