Munchables Recovers Lost Funds from Exploit
Munchables, the web3 gaming platform, has successfully recovered funds previously lost to an exploit and initiated refund procedures for affected users.
Exploit Incident Overview
The incident occurred when an exploiter targeted a vulnerability in the game’s contract system, resulting in the unauthorized withdrawal of approximately 17,414 ETH, equivalent to around $62.5 million.
ZachXBT identified connections between four addresses associated with the exploit, suggesting they may belong to the same individual. This individual was linked to the Munchables team and engaged in suspicious activities, as highlighted by ZachXBT.
Refund Process for Impacted Users
Following the exploit, Blast founder and Blur co-founder Tieshun “Pacman” Roquerre confirmed that $97 million had been secured in a multisig by Blast core contributors. The ex-Munchables developer chose to return all funds without any ransom, ensuring the safety of user funds.
Munchables announced that all user funds are secure, lockdrops will not be enforced, and all Blast-related rewards will be distributed accordingly. A compensatory treasury pool has been set up for users to reclaim their deposits.
