The training initiative is part of an OSCE-led project funded by multiple countries, aimed at enhancing national capacities to mitigate criminal risks associated with virtual assets and cryptocurrencies.
Global Efforts in Crypto Forensics Training
Efforts to train law enforcement on crypto forensics are not limited to Armenia. Countries like India and Thailand have also taken steps to equip their authorities with the necessary skills to combat cryptocurrency-related crimes.
Last year, India provided training to officials from cybercrime and police departments, focusing on cryptocurrency forensics and investigation.
Similarly, Binance collaborated with Thai government agencies to host a blockchain and crypto training workshop for law enforcement in Thailand, covering topics such as crypto fundamentals, investigation techniques, case studies, and the role of crypto exchanges in crime prevention.
A survey conducted by TRM Labs revealed that a significant percentage of law enforcement professionals feel the need for more training in crypto-related investigations, highlighting the complexity and challenges faced in combating crypto crimes.
