Deutsche Börse’s Investment in Digital Vault Services

Clearstream, Deutsche Börse’s post-trade business, has announced an investment in the fintech start-up Digital Vault Services (DVS). This strategic move is pending regulatory approvals and finalization of legal documentation.

Investment Details

• The funding from Clearstream will enable Digital Vault Services to enhance its market infrastructure solutions for corporates and financial institutions.
• Deutsche Börse will acquire a minority stake in Digital Vault Services as part of the investment.
• The investment is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024.

Collaboration Benefits

Upon completion, Digital Vault Services’ “Guarantee Vault” will be integrated with D7, the digital post-trade platform of Deutsche Börse and Clearstream. This integration will expand D7’s digital asset product offerings beyond securities.

“Digital leadership is a key component of Deutsche Börse Group’s Horizon 2026 strategy,” said Jens Hachmeister, head of issuer services and new digital markets at Clearstream.

Deutsche Börse Digital Exchange

Deutsche Börse recently launched the Deutsche Börse Digital Exchange (DBDX), a regulated spot platform for crypto assets catering to institutional clients. The platform offers a fully regulated ecosystem for trading, settlement, and custody of crypto assets.

Digital Asset Adoption in Germany

Landesbank Baden-Württemberg has partnered with Bitpanda to provide crypto-asset custody services starting in the second half of 2024. This partnership aims to offer regulated platforms for corporate clients to engage in crypto-asset custody and procurement.

DZ Bank, the second largest bank in Germany, is planning to pilot retail crypto trading in 2024. This service will allow private customers to access cryptocurrencies independently.
