A Taiwanese blockchain tech firm has joined forces with journalists to combat digital deception in the upcoming Indian election. Numbers Protocol, known for its work in previous elections, is gearing up for the Indian general election starting April 19.

Numbers Protocol will work with news outlets and photojournalists to capture on-location content. This content will be uploaded to a blockchain platform using the company’s suite of tools, including Capture Cam and Capture Dashboard. These tools leverage artificial intelligence to detect potential manipulation attempts, enhancing the credibility of digital media.

Engaging Civil Society Organizations for Contribution

In addition to professional journalists, Numbers Protocol has invited civil society organizations to participate using the Capture application. The platform automatically links user-generated content with provenance data, enabling efficient verification of content authenticity by media organizations.

Co-founder Tammy Yang highlighted Numbers Protocol’s approach to combating deepfakes and manipulated media. Content undergoes a blockchain registration process, allowing verification through an AI-powered engine.
